Growing confident volunteers
This page will help you understand how adult learning works in Moreton Region Scouts – what training looks like, what is expected, and how little of it feels like school.
Learning that fits real life
We know your time is precious. That is why our adult training is mostly self-paced. On-Demand eLearning at training.scouts.com.au lets you complete modules when it suits – after dinner, on the train, in a lunch break. The Scouts Australia Institute of Training (SAIT) issues recognition for completed training, and some modules carry formal qualifications.
The journey
- Getting started – short introductory modules covering child safety, your role and the basics.
- Ongoing development – practical workshops, first aid, and skills courses offered across Scouts Queensland.
- Wood Badge – the recognised adult leader training award. You work through it over time with a mentor, applying everything directly to your role.
You are not expected to know it all
No volunteer arrives fully formed. Learning happens on the job, from your Section team, and from the young people themselves. Training simply gives language and confidence to what you already do.
Try this: create an account at training.scouts.com.au and complete one short module this week. Momentum beats perfection.
