Parent Involvement

Parents and caregivers are an important part of the Scouting experience. Young people get the most from Scouts when families understand the program, support regular participation, and stay connected with what is happening.

Parent involvement does not have to mean taking on a major role straight away. For some families, it might mean helping a child get ready each week, reading updates, or supporting transport and communication.

For others, it may include helping at events, joining a committee, supporting fundraising, sharing a skill, or exploring a volunteer role over time. There are different ways to contribute, and not every family will do the same thing.

Ways parents may be involved

  • Supporting attendance and communication.
  • Helping with events or transport.
  • Contributing practical skills when needed.
  • Joining a Group committee or support role.
  • Exploring longer-term volunteering.
