Peak Awards are the highest awards a young person can earn in each section. They bring together the different parts of the Achievement Pathways and recognise sustained effort over time.

These awards are meant to be challenging, but still achievable for young people who stay engaged, keep growing and are willing to put in extra effort.

The Peak Awards in each section

  • Joey Scout Challenge Award.
  • Grey Wolf Award.
  • Australian Scout Award.
  • King’s Scout Award.
  • Baden-Powell Scout Award.

What a Peak Award includes

A Peak Award is not one single task. It usually combines several parts of the program, including Milestone 3, progress in Outdoor Adventure Skills, Special Interest Area projects and other major requirements such as an Adventurous Journey or leadership development.

That is what makes a Peak Award special. It shows that a young person has grown across the whole program, not just in one area.

What parents should keep in mind

Not every young person will aim for a Peak Award, and that is okay. Scouting still has huge value for young people who participate fully, build skills and grow steadily without chasing the top award.

For those who do want to aim high, a Peak Award gives them a strong long-term goal and a real sense of achievement.
