Our People

Scouting works because people make it work. Behind every section night, camp, activity, and training session is a network of volunteers, leaders, supporters, and staff who help the movement stay strong. Moreton Region Scouts is built on that shared effort.

Some people work directly with young people each week. Others support governance, administration, training, activity delivery, property, events, or wider regional coordination. Each role matters because each one helps create a better experience for young people.

Who makes up our team

Like other parts of Scouting, our region depends on a mix of committed volunteers and support roles. That includes people who lead programs, mentor new adults, manage operations, care for sites, organise events, and provide practical help behind the scenes.

  • Section leaders and assistants who work directly with young people.
  • Adult volunteers who support planning, logistics, and administration.
  • Specialist teams who contribute training, activities, or operational support.
  • Regional leaders who help guide direction, standards, and development.

Why people matter so much

Scouting is relational. Young people grow best when they are surrounded by adults who are trustworthy, consistent, encouraging, and willing to keep learning. The quality of the experience often comes down to the quality of the support around them.

That is why we value not just enthusiasm, but also training, teamwork, and shared standards. Good intentions matter, and good support matters too.

A culture of service and growth

At Moreton Region Scouts, we want our people to feel supported in their own development as well. Adults are more likely to stay involved and contribute well when expectations are clear, help is available, and learning is seen as part of the journey.

You do not need to know everything from day one. We build capability together through experience, mentoring, and practical support.

Working together

No one role carries Scouting on its own. Strong local Scouting happens when people work together, communicate well, and stay focused on what young people need most. That shared effort is one of the movement’s great strengths.
