Two wheels, big adventures

This page introduces cycling within Moreton Region Scouts’ Activity Teams — the volunteers who help units ride safely and run brilliant bike-based programs. Cycling is one of the most accessible adventurous activities going: most members already own a bike.

What the team offers

  • Skill sessions. Bike handling, road awareness and basic maintenance for all sections, from Cubs up.
  • Rides and events. Supported rides ranging from local rail trails to mountain biking weekends.
  • Leader development. Mentoring and pathways toward cycling activity endorsements under national standards.
  • Gear wisdom. Honest advice on what’s worth buying and what your existing bikes can handle.

Why cycling works so well in Scouting

A bike extends a young person’s range and confidence at the same time. Rides teach planning, teamwork and self-reliance — a flat tyre twenty kilometres from camp is a lesson nobody forgets. And unlike some activities, families can keep practising between meetings.

Safety first

Cycling activities follow Scouts Queensland standards: helmets always, appropriate supervision ratios, planned routes and risk assessments before wheels roll.
