Reasonable Adjustments for Achievement Pathways
Every young person should be able to take part and progress. Reasonable adjustments help make the Achievement Pathways accessible, challenging and fair.
Every young person should be able to take part and progress. Reasonable adjustments help make the Achievement Pathways accessible, challenging and fair.
All parts of the Achievement Pathways can be adapted to suit the skills and capacity of individual youth members. The key principle is personal progression, with adjustments discussed and agreed with the Scout and their support people.
Inclusion in practice
Reasonable adjustments are about removing barriers, not lowering expectations without thought. The goal is to help each young person participate on the same basis as others.
What adjustments can include
- Changes to environment, terrain or accommodation.
- Changes to communication methods or group structure.
- Changes to how requirements are completed.
- Extra support, equipment or assistance where needed.
Why this matters
Inclusive Scouting is better Scouting. When we make thoughtful adjustments, more young people can take part, succeed and feel that they belong.
