Uniform

The Scout uniform is part of belonging. It helps young people feel connected to their section, represent Scouts with pride, and display badges that reflect their effort, growth, and achievements over time.

Uniform also has a practical role. It helps identify sections, supports a shared sense of community, and gives young people a visible way to track their progress.

Families do not need to get everything right on the first day. It is often better to begin with the essentials, settle into the section, and ask your Group for guidance before buying additional items.

This page should help with

  • What the uniform is for.
  • What is usually needed first.
  • What can wait until later.
  • Badge placement basics.
  • Where to get help.

The main message is simple: start with what your child needs now, then build from there with support from your Group.
