Everyone has a place here

Scouting welcomes all young people and all volunteers. Moreton Region Scouts reflects its communities – different cultures, abilities, family shapes, faiths and backgrounds – and our volunteering culture should make that welcome real, not just stated.

What inclusion looks like for our volunteer team

  • Programs that flex. Reasonable adjustments let young people of all abilities take part fully – and Leaders get support to make them work.
  • Culturally aware practice. We acknowledge Traditional Custodians, respect cultural and religious observances when planning, and adapt food, timing and activities where needed.
  • A team where anyone fits. Volunteers of every age from 18 up, every background, and every walk of life contribute. No prior Scouting experience required – ever.
  • Safe to be yourself. Discrimination and bullying have no place in Scouting, full stop.

Support when you need it

If you want help including a particular young person, or you experience exclusion as a volunteer yourself, talk to your Group Leader or District Commissioner. Scouts Queensland provides guidance, and the Program Resources site includes practical inclusion material.

Reflection question: would every family in your local area genuinely believe your Group is for their child too? What small signal could improve that?
