Badges that tell the story of great adventures

This page covers special event badges — the commemorative badges earned at major Scouting events. They’re often the badges members treasure most, because each one represents a shared experience.

Events you might see on a sleeve

  • Australian Jamboree — the flagship national event for Scouts (11–14). The next is AJ2028.
  • Cuboree — a massive state camp for Cub Scouts, full of firsts.
  • Venture — the national gathering for Venturer Scouts (14–18).
  • JOTA-JOTI — the worldwide Jamboree of the Air and Internet, joined each October from Group halls everywhere.
  • Agoonoree — Queensland’s long-running camp supporting young people with special needs to experience Scouting.

Where do they go?

Special event badges have their own place in the official badge layout guides. Keep them with the shirt when it moves sections, or follow the guide’s advice for retaining them — many members keep them as keepsakes even after they no longer fit the current layout rules.

Try this

If your child brings home an event badge, ask them for one story from that camp. You’ll get more than you bargained for — and so will the scrapbook.
